3rd Newbury Scout Group: About us

The 3rd Newbury Scout Group, one of the oldest Groups in the area, caters for young people (both girls and boys) between the ages of six and fourteen years. We believe that scouting makes a positive contribution to society by helping young people to develop as active members of the community who are self reliant, responsible and caring individuals and who show commitment to themselves and to others. We are based in Shaw.

The volunteer leadership team provide fun and adventurous activities, both indoors and out, following the programs behind the Scout Movement’s purpose:

  • to help young people achieve their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.

The three sections of the Group are the Beaver Scouts, for those aged between six and eight, Cub Scouts who are eight to ten and a half years, and the Scout Troop which caters for the ten to fourteen year olds. We are fortunate to also be in partnership with a Kennet District Explorer Scout Unit, Pegasus ESU, for the fourteen to eighteen year olds who wish to continue their adventurous scouting activities.

If you have children who you would like to join in the fun and games that is scouting, please look through the sections relevant to their age group on our site, and contact us. If you would like to join our intrepid leadership team, please contact the Group Scout Leader at gsl@3rdnewburyscouts.org.uk.
